Consolidating the Achievements of Non-Hazardous Waste Treatment and Enhancing Residents' Happiness Index: A Visit to Ten
At the beginning of 2020, in order to improve the standards for non-hazardous waste treatment, the city government outsourced the operation and management of the landfill to Jiangsu Sanhe Environmental Protection Group Co., Ltd. through a bidding process. After nearly a year of safe and efficient operation, the environmental risks have been eliminated, and the concerns of nearby residents have been fully addressed.
During the pandemic, the Jiangsu Sanhe Company's Operations Project Department made every effort to secure supplies and raise funds to ensure the normal production and operation of the landfill. In the summer, when the area experienced a once-in-50-years flood, the project department stabilized the situation by clearing flood discharge channels (dredging), renovating drainage pipes (guiding), and using water pumps for drainage (pumping). As winter approached, despite the decreasing temperatures, the stable operation of all systems and equipment allowed the workshops to effectively manage the generated leachate, with the daily treatment volume remaining consistently within a reasonable range. The liquid level in the adjustment pool was always kept below the safe level, ensuring the effective disposal of landfill leachate and meeting the zero discharge environmental requirements. This eliminated safety risks, significantly improved the urban and rural environmental appearance, and enhanced the happiness index of residents in both urban and rural areas.
